Forecast of production of 100 tons of rangeland seeds in
2021

The director general of the Office of Rangeland Affairs of
the Forests, Rangelands and Watershed Management Organization said: The annual
need of the country is to produce 500 tons of seeds from 70 different rangeland
species.

Tarrahom Behzad added: Production and cultivation of
rangeland seeds should be done every year in order to revive and develop the
country's rangelands.Behzad also added: In 2019 and 2020, seed production at
rangeland seed stations reached about 44 tons, while most stations are
dilapidated and inactive.

Behzad stated that out of 22 rangeland seed production
stations in 18 provinces of the country, seven stations have been activated in
the last three years, and added that: This year, five more rangeland seed
production stations are scheduled to be activated and managed.

The director general of the Office of Rangeland Affairs of
the Forests, Rangelands and Watershed Management Organization, also pointed out
that: According to the latest decisions in order to organize rangeland seed
production stations, all stations in the provinces must have a management
transfer plan along with an economic balance sheet.
