The head of the sericulture center of the country said:
Plans and actions taken in the five areas of berry orchard revitalization,
improving the quality of sericulture seeds, training and empowering farmers and
experts, and autumn breeding have made silk cocoon production more economical.

 

Adeel Sarvi Zargar stated that the amount of wet silk cocoon
production in spring and autumn of this year is 1701 tons and added that: With
the production of 1,701 tons of fresh silk cocoons, the level of self-reliance
of the carpet and silk textile industry to domestic production has increased
from 28% to 52% in the last three years.

 

He also mentioned that: 46,000 boxes of sericulture eggs are
distributed annually among producers, and for next year, 50,000 boxes of
sericulture eggs have been requested by the ministry of Jihad-Agriculture’s
organizations to raise silkworms.

 

In regard to the second or autumn breeding of silkworms, he
acknowledged that: since three years ago, autumn breeding was carried out as a
pilot in six provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Khorasan Razavi, North
Khorasan and Tehran, and in the fall of this year, 376 boxes of sericulture breeding
eggs were provided to producers.
