Production of 5 million tons of spring sugar beet this year
in Iran

Executor of sugar beet project of Ministry of Jihad- Agriculture predicted:
more than 5 million tons of spring sugar beet will be produced in the country
this year.

Peyman Hesadi, referring to the spring sugar beet harvest
period and the operation of the country's sugar factories from the end of
September this year in western provinces, including West Azerbaijan, and
Ardabil said: So far, the crop of more than 1100 hectares has been harvested
from farms and about 60,000 tons of sugar beet with an average sugar grade
above 16%, were delivery to sugar factories.

According to Hesadi, the cultivation of autumn sugar beet
has started with the beginning of the crop year in the southern regions of the
country (Khuzestan).

He also added that: Due to the high level of production and
water productivity in autumn sugar beet, it is predicted that while saving
about 140 million cubic meters of water, more than 1.2 million tons of autumn
sugar beet will be produced and delivered to sugar factories.
