The head of the country's silk cocoons breeding center,
Adeel Sarvi Zargar, said: From this amount of cocoons, about 285 tons of silk
yarn is produced.



He referred to the autumn cultivation of silkworms and
stated: Autumn silkworm breeding started two years ago in eight provinces of
the country and this year it will continue in temperate areas and areas with
good rainfall and in areas with the possibility of providing mulberry leaves
and breeding.



 



He stated that the production of fresh silk cocoons last
year was 1678 tons, and told: With this amount of production, the self-reliance
of the carpet and silk textile industry on domestic silk yarn increased from
28% to 48% in 2020, which is a production record for the last 12 years.



 Sarvi- Zargar also
noted that according to customs statistics, imports of silk yarn reduced by 73%
last year. He also added that: For this year, 49,000 boxes of silk
"Noghan" have been provided for distribution, which will be available
to silk farmers across the country.
