Fars - More than 400 tons of watermelons grown in Jahrom County in the southern Fars province have been exported to international markets over the past month, despite ongoing trade constraints and transportation disruptions, a local agricultural official announced.

Sajjad Ghanaatian, head of Jahrom’s Agricultural Department, said agricultural exports are vital for supporting farmers, preserving access to foreign markets, and creating added value across the agricultural sector.

He noted that Jahrom’s watermelons and Jana melons are among the county’s flagship export products, enjoying strong demand in overseas markets, including Georgia thanks to their high quality and compliance with export standards.

According to Ghanaatian, all export consignments are subject to quarantine inspections and quality control procedures before shipment. Export certificates are issued only after the products are verified to meet the phytosanitary and quality requirements of destination countries, with loading and transport operations monitored throughout the process.
