The Minister of
Jihad-Agriculture, in a message to the 1st national congress of the
International Cotton Day, held in Kashmar, expressed that: impressive history
of cotton industry in Iran, makes our responsibility heavy in improving its
conditions and strengthening the value chain of cotton from farm to industry,
and attaining this goal can be possible only with the participation,
collaboration and interaction of industry and related organizations.

Cotton, as a strategic product,
plays an important role in the national economy and preserving employment in
the most urgent needs of society including clothing, oils, animal food and
other industrial products.

 To provide the basis for sustainable
development of cotton cultivation and production; improving yields, improving
water use efficiency, developing coefficients of mechanization and technology
transfer are among essential strategies.
