Markazi province greenhouse exports see major rise
Arak - Greenhouse product exports from Markazi Province, in the center of Iran, reached $16 million this year, up from $4 million in the same period last year, reflecting a fourfold increase, according to an official with the province’s Agricultural Organization.
Ahmad Assadi attributed the strong growth to the implementation of a targeted export roadmap, which led to the identification and activation of new markets in the Caucasus, Central Asia, and countries across the Persian Gulf region.
Standardizing production processes and upgrading product quality in line with international benchmarks, including GlobalG.A.P., have been placed high on the agenda, he noted.
He also highlighted the role of advanced greenhouse technologies - particularly modern irrigation systems and climate control - in boosting productivity and efficiency.
According to Asadi, continuous monitoring of global markets has helped align production with high-demand, higher value-added crops, strengthening the province’s export performance.
He added that the export surge represents a $12 million year-on-year increase and has injected $16 million in foreign exchange revenues into both the provincial and national economies.
