Mamra Almond yields hit 8 tons per hectare as exports to India expand

Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari — Mamra almonds from Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province are making strong gains in international markets, particularly India, as improved cultivation practices push orchard yields to as high as 8 tons per hectare.

Ebrahim Shirani, Director of Horticulture at the provincial Agricultural Organization, said the province’s Mamra almonds have captured a significant share of the global market while maintaining their renowned quality.

“Thanks to their exceptional flavor and rich nutritional value, Mamra almonds are not only highly sought-after in Iran but have also become a premium product in international markets,” Shirani said, noting India as the primary export destination.

He also called for the establishment of a specialized almond industrial park in the province to support branding, packaging, and export logistics.

“Creating an almond-focused processing hub will help complete the product’s value chain and elevate the quality and competitiveness of our exports,” he said.

Hojatollah Raeisi, Director of Agricultural in Saman County, added that 12,000 hectares of almond orchards are under cultivation in the region—70% of which are planted with the Mamra variety.
