Joint Virtual Meeting between FRWO and CNFGA Held on Monday,
12 July 2021
The first joint virtual meeting between Forest, Range and Watershed management
Organization (FRWO) and National Forest and Grassland Administration of P.R.
(CNFGA) was held on Monday.
During a virtual meeting between FRWO and CNFGA which was on
Monday, 12 July 2021, along with delegations of the two sides, Mr. Ali Nemati, Counselor
of the Iranian Embassy in Beijing – China was also present. In this joint
meeting, two sides reviewed the major challenges of natural resource management
and talked about their practices aimed at the solving the problems.
Noteworthy that there are great similarities between Iran
and China in terms of climate and ecology point of view which is a positive
factor for boosting cooperation in forest, rangeland and combating desertification
programs.
Sustainable Forest management, Participation of local
community and implementation of multipurpose forestry plans with emphasis on
local communities' livelihood, Forestry and Climate Change, Ecotourism
and forest park design, timber cropping and agroforestry, Forest
assessment and remote sensing and pest and disease control and fire control
were among the issues of interest.
It is notable that Iran and China had signed Memorandum of
Understanding Agreement on Natural Resources consisting of 9 articles in 2014
by Deputy Minister and Head of FRWO touring China at the head of a high ranking
delegation from FRWO on behalf of I.R. of Iran.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides decided to nominate
contact persons to continue negotiations to establish practical cooperation.
