Iranian researchers increase wheat yields by 25 percent with Plasma Tech
Tehran – Iranian researchers have achieved a 25% increase in wheat yields by combining plasma technology with optimized crop nutrition, marking a significant step toward more sustainable and knowledge-based agricultural production.
The breakthrough, announced by the Qom Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center, increased the yield of the Torabi wheat variety from around 6 tons to nearly 7.5 tons per hectare.
According to the center's director, plasma technology not only enhances crop productivity but also improves input efficiency, reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, and supports the transition to more sustainable farming systems.
The innovation is part of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization's (AREEO) broader strategy to accelerate the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies, boost productivity, and strengthen Iran's long-term food security.
