Iranian agri-tech firms produce up to 1,500 innovative products
Tehran - About 650 technology units and knowledge-based firms under Iran’s National Agricultural and Natural Resources Science and Technology Park have developed between 1,000 and 1,500 agricultural technology products, according to the park’s president.
Hossein Lotfali-Zadeh said the products cover fields including soil and water management, agricultural engineering, animal sciences, plant protection, and seed technology, with roughly half reaching commercialization.
Some products have been exported to neighboring markets such as Iraq, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Turkey, though foreign exchange transfer constraints continue to limit export expansion.
The park supports companies by providing workspace, farms, and greenhouse facilities and has expanded financial support by investing part of its budget in the University of Tehran’s Research and Technology Fund to facilitate financing. Research lands, buildings, and laboratories have also been allocated nationwide, with dedicated areas in innovation centers and technology villages reserved for knowledge-based firms.
