Iran saffron exports register significant growth in 4 months
A total of 13.6 tons of saffron were exported from Iran
during the first four month of the current calendar year (March 21-July 22),
registering a 70% year-on-year rise in value compared to same period last year.
Gholamreza Miri, the chairman of Iranian Saffron Exporters
and Sellers Union, said the amount of export witnessed a 63 percent rise in
terms of value compared to same period last year.
He said over 239,000 tons of saffron was exported from the
country in the previous calendar year.
Iran is one of the world’s top saffron producers and over 90
percent of its production is exported to foreign destinations.
