Iran ranks third in walnut production in the world
Iran with the production of 168 thousand tons of walnuts per
year: Iran ranks third in walnut production in the world
Ali Asghar Zinanlu, head of the country's horticultural research
department, said: The area under cultivation of walnut orchards in the country
is 158 thousand hectares, of which 69 thousand hectares are infertile orchards
and 89 thousand hectares are fertile orchards.
He stated that the yield level of this product is 2 tons per
hectare, and added: The amount of walnut production in the country is 168
thousand tons, in which Iran accounts for 0.5% of the world's exports.
Zinanlu also mentioned that: Kerman, Fars, Hamedan and
Kurdistan provinces have the highest walnut production in the country,
respectively, and the maximum area under cultivation of this crop is in Kerman,
Kermanshah, East Azarbaijan and Hamedan provinces, respectively.
