Iran ranks first in the production of saffron, rose flower
and Persian shallot in the world



 



The deputy minister of horticulture affairs of the Ministry
of Agriculture stated that: the area under cultivation of medicinal
plants in the country should reach 500 thousand hectares by the year 2026, with
the participation of the people, serious contribution of the producers, and by
a strategic plan.



Mohammad Mehdi Broumandi, deputy director of horticulture
affairs, in the meeting of the training course on organic production, branding
and marketing, reiterated that: Due to its climatic diversity, Iran ranks first
in the world in terms of production of saffron, rose flower and shallot.



The deputy minister of horticulture affairs of the Ministry
of  Agricultural pointed out that Iran, by having 261 thousand hectares of
cultivated area of ​​medicinal plants in 2021, produced about 400 thousand tons
of crops.



The executive of the Medicinal Plants Project also said: By
doing contract farming and producing products in accordance with international
regulations, it is possible to manage the marketing and exporting of medicinal
plants.



Hossein Zainali also stated that: It is decided that with
contract farming and production of products in accordance with international
regulations and standards, we will have significant help to exporters to export
healthy and sustainable products in international markets.
