Iran is on the verge of self-sufficiency in sugar production

 

 Production of
agricultural dried products is being developed in cooperation with
international research institutes: Iran is on the verge of self-sufficiency in
sugar production
 
Deputy of
agriculture affairs of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture has said: production
of agricultural dried products in cooperation with international research
institutes and through employing the principle of soil fertility, is going to
be more economical and sustainable.


  According to the
information center of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, Abbas Keshavarz,
pointed out that: with the country's self-sufficiency in wheat production, we
now, for several years, don’t need to import this product. He also mentioned
that by utilizing new seeds and modern technologies, sugar production was
increased from 1.1 million tons in 2014 to about 2.03 million tons in 2018,
which by considering the annual need of 2.2. million tons, our country will
soon become self-sufficient in sugar production. Regarding the increase in
production of rapeseed oily seed in Iran, he mentioned that: The rapeseed
production record in Iran is 5 tons per hectare, which is higher than the
European record.



Deputy minister of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture pointed
out that: production of wheat seed was increased from 280 thousand tons in 2014
to 530 thousand tons in 2018.
