Iran has achieved 80 percent of crop planting goals: Minister
Tehran - Iran's Ministry of Agriculture has successfully implemented 80% of its national cropping pattern for the past agricultural year, according to Minister Gholamreza Nouri.
Addressing a recent parliamentary session, Minister Nouri said the government-mandated plan, which aims to scientifically manage agricultural production, considers several key factors, including climate and weather conditions, available water resources, production economics, legal requirements, and local farming knowledge.
He emphasized that this structured approach has become critical due to limited water resources and the country’s need for food security. “In the past, farmers often made planting decisions based on natural conditions alone.”
For the upcoming agricultural year, the Ministry has developed a detailed cropping pattern after extensive analysis of the country's resources, he said, noting that the plan specifies which crops should be planted in each province, city, and even village.
