Iran fishery exports see significant surge

Tehran - The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has reported a substantial increase in the country's fishery exports during the Iranian year 1403, which concluded on March 19, 2025.
According to IRICA, Iran exported 196,000 metric tons of fishery products valued at $372 million.
Arezou Ghanion, Deputy Director of the Statistics and Data Processing Office at IRICA, highlighted the impressive year-on-year growth in the sector. Fishery exports experienced a 29 percent surge in volume and a 17 percent rise in value compared to the preceding year.
The primary contributors to this export success included various types of shrimp, tuna, and carp. Together, these commodities constituted a significant 64 percent of the total export volume and 65 percent of the total export value within the fishery product category.
IRICA's data also identified the top destinations for Iranian fishery exports. China, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates emerged as the leading buyers during the Iranian year 1403.
