Iran
exporting citrus fruits to China, kiwifruits to India, official says

The
head of Iran’s Plant Protection Organization announced that the country is
exporting citrus fruits and kiwifruits to China and India, respectively.

Exports
of citrus fruits to China as well as kiwifruits to India are underway, Shahpour
Alaei-Moqaddam said.

In
terms of kiwi output, the country is the world’s fifth major producer of the
product with 289,000 tons per year. China, New Zealand, and Italy are the first
to third-largest producers of kiwifruit in the world. China’s kiwi production
is 2.23 million tons per year.

Elsewhere
in his remarks, Alaei-Moqaddam said all agricultural products of the country
will be tracked from origin to destination, adding, “It has been one of the
major objectives of the Plant Protection Organization to track the products”.

He
had earlier told media outlets that the agricultural products will be exported
with a QR tracking code from the next Iranian calendar year (begins on March
21), and said that the process of certifying eight products has already
started.

"Now, it has become mandatory for four
agricultural products and four garden products to be registered, and from next
year, agricultural products with a QR tracking code and according to the
standards of the destination countries must be exported”, the official had
reiterated.
