Iran exporting agricultural products to nearly 200
countries, official says

Iran is currently exporting its agricultural products to
nearly 200 countries around the world, according to the country’s deputy
agriculture minister for the horticulture affairs.

“Annually, we export over $6 billion
of agricultural products, of which $3 billion were allocated to horticultural
products”, Mohammad-Mehdi Boroumandi said.

He added, “Some 200 countries are importing our agricultural
products.”

The deputy minister further noted that Iran has the 1st to
8th ranking in producing 32 products including dates, kiwis, and apples.

Based on the data released by the Statistical Center of Iran
(SCI), about 12 million tons of garden products were produced in the country
during the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20), with an
eight-percent fall year on year.

Apple, orange, tangerine, grape, and date accounted for 64
percent of horticulture output in the past year.

As reported, 67 percent of the country’s gardens are in 10
provinces, including Kerman, Khorasan Razavi, Fars, West Azarbaijan, Eat
Azarbaijan, Mazandaran, Isfahan, Yazd, Sistan-Baluchestan, and Yazd.

Although horticulture sector experienced decline in
production in the past year, it was one of the sectors that saw export growth
in that year.
