Iran annual tea export registers 38 percent rise
The value of Iran’s tea export in the past Iranian calendar
year of 1401 (ended on March 20, 2023) stood at $44.2 million, according to the
statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
The country also imported nearly 80,000 tons of tea valued
at $665 million from countries like Kenya, India, China, Vietnam, Turkey, and
the Netherlands in the period, the data showed.
Earlier, the maximum record of Iran’s tea exports in terms
of weight was set in 2014 which was broken last year.
Iran produced about 26,000 tons of quality tea leaves last
year, about 10,000 tons of which were exported.
Iran’s export of tea registered a 34.8 percent hike last
year as compared to a year earlier, IRICA added.
