Iran, Syria explore ways to enhance agricultural ties
Iranian Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Ali Nikbakht and
Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil discussed
ways to enhance the exchange of agricultural production and cooperation.
In a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, the two ministers
explored opportunities for joint projects that would improve Syria's
agricultural sector.
“Iran is ready to cooperate with
Syria based on its experiences and technical knowledge in various agricultural
sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, and fisheries,” Nikbakht
said.
He also highlighted the potential benefits of utilizing
research conducted by scientific institutions affiliated with his ministry to
develop Syrian agriculture.
The Iranian minister further said that all obstacles in the
way exports of agricultural products should be removed by the two governments,
the minister said.
The Syrian minister, for his part, called for enhanced ties
between the two countries in the sector of agriculture, saying, “We are willing
to use Iran’s experience in the areas of livestock and fishery products”.
