Iran and China agree to expand agricultural research
cooperation

Iran's Agricultural Research, Education and Extension
Organization (AREEO) and China’s Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences have
agreed to boost their cooperation in the sector of agricultural research.

In the second round of Iran-China joint symposium held in
Tehran on Monday, Mojtaba Khayam-Nekouei, the head of AREEO, and Dr. Wang, the
head of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, discussed ways to expand
mutual cooperation in the sector of agricultural research.

“The joint symposium has provided a
good opportunity for closer agricultural cooperation between the countries.
This could help us achieve sustainable food security,” Khayam-Nekouei said
during the meeting.

The Iranian deputy minister also pointed to Iran’s full
membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and said Tehran and
Beijing are determined to boost the level of their agricultural ties regionally
and globally.

“This round of the symposium aims to
expedite the implementation of the agreements struck between the two research
institutes,” he said.
