Iran Veterinary
Organization establishes center to focus on Zoonotic Diseases
The Veterinary
Organization of Iran has established a new center for research on diseases
transmitted from animals to humans and animal products.
The center was
established by a decree from the organization's head, Mojtaba Norouzi.
It will be located in
Tehran and will focus on research into the prevention, control, and treatment
of animal-borne diseases that can threaten human health.
The center will have a
board of directors composed of the head of the Veterinary Organization, the
organization's deputy for health and prevention, the deputy for diagnosis and
treatment, the center's director, and three members of the center's faculty.
The center will also have
two types of membership: regular membership for faculty members and full-time
staff of the center, and affiliated membership for faculty members from other
veterinary education groups at the Veterinary Organization or other
universities and higher education institutions.
Norouzi expressed the hope that the center will help to improve the
organization's ability to prevent and control animal-borne diseases. He said
that the center will play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of the
Iranian people.
