Iran, Bashkortostan stress reaching $400m bilateral trade

Iranian agriculture minister Javad Sadatinejad said Iran and
the Republic of Bashkortostan have the capacity to increase their trade
turnover to $400 million.

“Iran and the Republic of Bashkortostan have the potential
to ramp up their bilateral ties,” Sadatinejad said on Monday in a meeting with
Radiy Khabirov, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, in Tehran.

He further stressed the need to increase the volume of
bilateral trade between the two nations to $400 million.

“Currently, the volume of trade between Tehran and Ufa
stands at $150 million and we need to increase this,” the minister said.

Sadatinejad said that Iran can import wood, meat, dairies,
and agricultural products from Bashkortostan extending from the western slopes
of the southern Ural Mountains in the east to the rolling hills of the
Bugulma-Belebey Upland in the west.

Khabirov, for his part, stressed the need for enhanced ties
between the two nations in all fields and said, “In the past four years,
extensive research has been conducted by experts in Bashkortostan to produce
Halal food and we need Iran’s assistance in this regard”. 

We are ready to import fruits, vegetables and nuts from
Iran, he said.

Bashkortostan can act a distribution hub for Iranian foods
and products, Khabirov said, calling for the establishment of a commercial
center in Bashkortostan.

“We are also ready to cooperate with Iranian companies for
extraterritorial cultivation”, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan said.
