Iran, Afghanistan seek closer agricultural ties

South Khorasan – Iran and Afghanistan discussed ways to boost their cooperation in the agriculture sector.

During a high-level meeting, Mohsen Esfandiari, head of the South Khorasan Agricultural Organization, Mr. Harati, head of the Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resources Organization; and Mr. Mohammadi, an Afghan private-sector trader, discussed a wide range of projects to boost bilateral agriculture ties.

Esfandiari highlighted South Khorasan’s strong capacity for producing high-quality agricultural products and underscored the benefits of regional cooperation.

He noted that direct engagement with neighboring traders can increase the value added to domestic production and open new export opportunities for Iranian goods in regional markets.

Harati emphasized the pivotal role of the Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resources Organization in enhancing production quality and providing technical support to producers.

He confirmed the organization’s readiness to collaborate on standardization efforts and facilitate the export process for agricultural products.

Mohammadi, representing Afghan businesses, expressed readiness to expand commercial and agricultural ties with Iran, noting that Iran remains one of Afghanistan’s key agricultural partners.
