Investigating strategies for developing cooperation and
agricultural trade between Iran and Iraq

Seyyed Javad Sadati-Nejad, the Minister of Jihad-Agriculture
of Iran, stated in a telephone conversation with Mohammad Karim Al-Khafaji, the
Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq: Iran and Iraq have a lot in
common, and it is hoped that these talks can improve relations between the two
countries in the field of agriculture and food.

Sadati-Nejad referred to the signing of an animal and
vegetable quarantine agreement in 2014 between Iran and Iraq to resolve its
implementation problems. They also discussed apple exports from Iran to Iraq
and other issues of trade stability between the two countries.

Mohammad Karim al-Khafaji, Iraq's agriculture minister,
stated that: Iran-Iraq relations are special, old and historical, and
especially after the collapse of the former Iraqi regime, these relations
between the two countries have become stronger.

He also added that: Iran is very advanced in the field of
agriculture and we are interested in increasing cooperation with Iran.

Finally, he continued that: I will soon send a delegation to
Iran to investigate the problems and then I will visit Iran to make an
agreement on trade in agricultural goods and production technology.
