Introduction of 12 new rainfed cultivars this year
The country's rainfed agricultural research institute
predicted that
about 12 new cultivars in the field of cereals, oilseeds, forage crops and
legumes for sustainable production and increase yield in rainfed lands will be
introduced this year.
The head of the country's rainfed agricultural research
institute stated: In order to sustain production in rainfed lands, expand
genetic diversity, improve green water use and improve farmers' livelihoods, in
addition to increasing potentials, such as yield and resistance to
environmental stresses and diseases in new wheat and barley cultivars, we
strive to introduce new autumn cultivars and alternative plants to rainfed
areas.

institute mentioned that: So far, 75 new cultivars of different products have
been introduced their research institute, of which 48 cultivars are related to
cereals, 16 cultivars are legumes, and the rest are in the field of fodder and
oilseeds.
