Implementation of new irrigation systems in Iranian
agricultural lands: Equipping 28% of the country's irrigated lands with modern
irrigation systems
The project manager for the development of new irrigation
systems of the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture said that: To date, 28% of the
country's irrigated land has been equipped with modern irrigation systems.
Mr. Abbas Zareh has mentioned that: With the implementation
of the new irrigation systems development plan, there is a potential to save
4,400 cubic meters of water per hectare.
He also added that:
The plan to develop new irrigation systems showed 300% growth since 2016
because it benefits its employers. This is the only project in the country
whose employers are the exploiters and farmers, and the government helped them
implement the project.
Adviser to the Minister of Jihad-Agriculture stated that: In
2013, we had 920 grams of agricultural production per each cubic meter of
water, and with the implementation of water and soil projects, especially new
irrigation systems, by 2018 this figure has been increased to 1450 grams, per
each cubic meter of water consumption, and the total irrigation efficiency has
increased from 39 percent in 2013 to 45 percent.in 2018.
