Hormozgan province a gateway to investment in Iran: Minister

Iranian agriculture minister Javad Sadatinejad described the
country’s southern province of Hormozgan as a “gateway” to investment in Iran.

“Hormozgan province is rich in resources and is pioneer to
many industrial and agricultural projects. Due to its nearness to the sea, it
acts as a gateway to investment,” Sadatinejad said on Friday inaugurating some
138 development projects during his provincial visit to Hormozgan.

A lion’s share of the government’s provincial agricultural
budget goes to Hormozgan among other provinces, which shows the ministry's
resolve to establish food security in the southern province, he added.

The minister said that the development of greenhouse
cultivation, novel irrigation, and fisheries projects would help boost economy
and create direct and indirect jobs in the province.

Due to the climatic conditions of Hormozgan province, one of
the necessities in the field of agriculture is to move toward new cultivation
methods, and in this regard, development of greenhouse cultivation is very
important because this type of cultivation is more productive than outdoor
cultivation.

Cultivation in the controlled space of the greenhouse will
have an average of 10 times higher yield per unit area than outdoor cultivation
due to suitable environmental conditions.
