High-yield Roman sheep farming expands in Golestan province
Golestan – A livestock facility breeding the prolific Roman sheep breed has raised its capacity to more than 5,000 head, announced the deputy for livestock production at the Golestan Agriculture Organization.
Speaking during a visit to the unit, Reza Nazari said the expansion of industrial sheep farming is a strategic priority aimed at reducing the livestock sector's dependence on rangelands, lowering grazing pressure, and increasing red meat output.
He added that high-performance international breeds such as the Roman sheep are attracting growing interest from farmers and investors due to their high rates of multiple births, excellent meat quality, and strong market acceptance.
