Fighting invasive locusts from Africa to Iran

Fighting invasive locusts from Africa to Iran
According to the information
center of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, Mr. Abbas Keshavarz, on his trip
to Dashti city and visiting the paved farms and gardens of East Lavar mentioned
that: More financial supports and credits are needed to fight the locust pest
that has now spread from southwest to south of Iran. He also added that:
Grasshopper is one of the serious pests threatening food security, and a cause
of spreading poverty.
The continent of Africa is
heavily involved in this crisis, and the depth of the disaster is so long as an
institution in the UN monitors and informs the pest. Mr. Keshavrz added: This
pest entered Iran last year and was managed with the spraying of 750,000
hectares, and thus no damage was made to the country's farms and gardens.
He also mentioned that: This
year, this pest covers most of southwestern and southern parts of Iran, i.e.
Khuzestan, Bushehr and Hormozgan provinces, and is probably imported through
Pakistan to Sistan and Baluchistan. Mr. Keshavarz also added that: We are ready
to fight and dispel this pest by providing the necessary poison and training
our troops.
