Exports of $ 150 million farmed shrimp from Iran to Asia and
Europe in 2021
The head of the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture Development
of the Fisheries Organization of Iran said: This year 57,800 tons of shrimp
were produced from 14,034 hectares and about 75 to 80% of it was sent to the
markets of the region, Asia and Europe. Morteza Afrasiabi added: This year,
shrimp export was made to countries such as Turkey, Iraq, UAE, China, Spain,
and France, with the highest exports to China and the UAE.
Afrasiabi commented on China's recent remarks that it would
issue a license to import Iranian shrimp in the near future and mentioned: Iran
has a large capacity for shrimp production and China is a large and decisive
market for this product due to its high population, so by solving some problems
about health standards and China's desire to import more, our producers are
encouraged to increase their production. He also added that: Most of Iran's
farmed shrimp exports are being made to the UAE and China.
Regarding the transportation of exporting shrimp, Afrasiabi
acknowledged: The export of farmed shrimp is done by air and sea, but most of
our exports are being done by sea.
