Exchange of $ 47 million for Iranian fig exports

The director general of the tropical and subtropical fruits
office of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture said: Last year, about 13,600 tons
of figs worth approximately $ 47 million were exported from the country. Zahra
Jalili-Moghaddam stated that: According to the latest official statistics, the
amount of fig production in the country is more than 104 thousand tons, which
this amount is being harvested from 59 thousand hectares of land. She also
added that: Last year, about 13,600 tons of figs worth approximately $ 47
million were exported from the country.

 The director general
of the Office of Tropical and Semi-Tropical Fruits, noting that out of 59,000
hectares of fig orchards, about 40,000 tons are related to rainfed figs, said
that: Fars province is the most important province producing dried figs and is
the main supplier of export figs in the country.

Moghaddam also stated that: Planning to increase the quality
and production in accordance with international standards will expand the
export of this product. She pointed out that one of the programs of the
Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture is the improvement and renovation of fig
orchards,

and reminded that the improvement and renovation of orchards
will increase the quantity and quality of the product. She reminded that last
year, in addition to planning to improve product quality and promote orchard
operations, the reform of the basic export tariff rate was another matter which
was followed up by the Office of Tropical and Semi Fruits Tropical, based on
the request received from the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Fars Province
and the Fig Association.
