Eleventh percent growth of bony fish in the Caspian Sea
The director general of the fishing office of the Iranian
Fisheries Organization stated that: Of this amount, 41% of the share of bony
fish was in Gilan province, 51% in Mazandaran province, and 8% in Golestan
province.
Mokhtar Akhoundi added: During this period, 600 tons of bony
fish were caught in Gilan province, 747 tons in Mazandaran province, and 11
tons in Golestan province. He then stated that: Out of 1458 tons of bony fish,
34% were related to whitefish, 49% to mullet, 15% to carp, and 2% to other
species. He also added that: The amount of implicit fishing of immature
sturgeon last year was about 2,000 pieces, and mentioned that all immature sturgeon
caught last year were also returned to the sea.
The Director General of the Fisheries Office of the
Fisheries Organization of Iran acknowledged the reproduction and release of
juvenile fish by fishing cooperatives. He then added that: To help rebuild bony
fish stocks, the Pareh fishing cooperatives naturally replicated nearly 36
million juveniles in 2021 and released them into the sea.
