Tabriz – East Azarbaijan Province in northwestern Iran expanded its artificial livestock insemination program by 18.16% in 2025 compared with the previous year, strengthening efforts to improve animal genetics and increase livestock productivity, provincial agricultural officials said.

Javad Gozli, acting head of the Livestock Affairs Department at the East Azarbaijan Agriculture Organization, said 188 trained technicians are now providing artificial insemination services across the province. The program has also equipped field personnel with modern breeding equipment, including semen transport containers and insemination devices.

Gozli said the initiative helps reduce breeding costs, minimize inbreeding, improve reproductive performance, and accelerate genetic improvement by enabling the use of high-value breeding stock.

He added that expanding artificial insemination services and adopting modern breeding technologies will enhance livestock production, improve the quality of animal products, raise farmers' incomes, and support the sustainable development of the province's livestock sector.
