Collaboration with international research institutes to increase production performance and to decrease water consumption

Ninety percent of wheat dry farming, and 75% of water
cultured wheat in the country will be machanized. According to the information
center of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture, moderator of the wheat plan of the
ministry has mentioned that: several measures have been taken for quantitative
and quantitative production and increasing wheat productivity, among which one
is the mechanized wheat production.



Mr. Esfandyari-Pour pointed out the common project between
Iran and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, and added that: this
project is in progress in three provinces, which have water cultured wheat
production, i.e. Khozestan, Golestan, and Fars, and in drylands of 4 provinces
of Hamedan, Gazvin, Zanjan, and Arebil. 



Mr. Esfandyari-Pour, in regard to the common project between
Iran and the International Center for Agriculture Research in the Dry Areas
(ICARDA) in wheat field, has mentioned that: with the implementation of this
project in the provinces of Lorestan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan and West
Azarbaijan, good results were obtained. He also mentioned that protective
agriculture and development of new cultivars were practiced in five other
provinces, i.e. Ilam, Markazi, Northern Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, and Western
Azarbayejan. He also added that other actions taken in this field include
controlling of the damaging factors, and implementation of training classes for
farmers and professional in various provinces. He described the development of
micro-irrigation system among the actions taken in the wheat field of the
country, and mentioned that: 45000 hectares of water cultured wheat lands were
equipped with micro-irrigation system, which can increase productivity of wheat
production and reducing water consumption.
