Aquifer management: Water saving in the land bank

The Director General of the Office of Flood and Aquifer
Control of the Forests, Rangelands and Watershed Management Organization of the
country, referring to the importance and necessity of aquifer management in
order to further infiltrate rainfall and floods into the earth, said: The total
permeable lands and large grain alluvium of the country have the capacity to
store more than 40 billion cubic meters of rainfall and floods per year, which
investing in this area, in addition to reducing destructive effects of floods,
strengthens water storage in the country's aquifers.

Abolghasem Hossein-pour after emphasizing on the inherent
mission of aquifer management in the penetration of rain and flood into the
earth, has added: Aquifer management, which is water saving in the land bank,
that strengthening the storage of green water in the soil and water in the
aquifers of wells, springs and canals are among the positive functions of
aquifer management.

 He also mentioned that:
Some of the positive functions of aquifer management are: reducing flooding,
reducing evaporation, controlling land subsidence, rehabilitating aquifers,
sustaining nature and improving agricultural production and natural resource
areas.
