Annual shrimp output in Iran planned to reach 86,000 tons
this year
As announced by an official with Iran’s Fisheries
Organization (IFO), production of 86,000 tons of shrimp has been targeted for
the current year.
“Shrimp production is anticipated to
reach 86,000 tons in the current Iranian year,” Vahid Madani said.
He added that nearly 60,631 tons of shrimp were produced in
five provinces of the country during the past Iranian calendar year (ended on
March 20).
To increase the shrimp production, we anticipate its
requirements, including six billion larvae, working capital, construction of
new sites and farms, development funds, and mechanization development, Madani
said.
Fishery production has increased noticeably in Iran in
recent years.
Enjoying high quality, Iran’s fishery products
were sold easily in the export markets, and also some new export destinations
welcomed these products in the past two years; as new markets including China,
South Korea, and the Eurasian Union nations opened up for Iranian fishery
products.
