Agreement on the Establishment of the International Center
for Integrated Watershed Management and Biological Resources in Iran

Agreement on establishing the International Center for
Integrated Watershed Management in arid and semi-arid regions of Iran, in the
form of the second type of center of institutions under the auspices of the
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO,) with
the aim of making information exchange capacity and promoting knowledge and
technology in this field was signed by the Minister of Jihad-Agriculture and
the Secretary General of the UNESCO Commission in Iran.

Proposal for the establishment of the International Center
for Integrated Watershed Management in arid and semi-arid regions in Iran, in
the form of the second type of institution under the auspices of the United
Nations.

Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO),
with the aim of making information exchange capacity and promoting knowledge
and technology in this field was approved by the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture
at the 38th meeting of the UNESCO General Conference in 2015 in Paris.

The Minister of Jihad-Agriculture, Dr. Khavazi, at the
ceremony for signing the agreement for establishing the International Center
for Integrated Watershed Management and Biological Resources in arid and
semi-arid regions in Iran, mentioned that establishment of this center is very
important for our country and also added that:

We have a lot of scientists in the field of watershed
management in the country, and considering the indigenous knowledge that exists
in the rural areas of the country, we can help this center by combining this
indigenous knowledge with new knowledge, we can help make this center as a good
and well-respected international center, through which we can exchange
knowledge between Iran and other countries.
