A Forecasting Model of Grapevine Moth Was Developed by IRIPP
According to the Public Relations office of the Iranian
Research Institute of Plant Protection, Dr. Hossein Ranjbar, the faculty
member of the Agricultural Entomology Research Department and the lead
manager of the project "preparation of forecasting model of Grapevine
moth" in collaboration with the other researchers of the project
have prepared a forecasting model to manage the grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana Denis &
Schiffermüller) Which is one of the most important pests of Iranian
vineyards.
Until now, in our country, pheromone traps were used to
determine the most appropriate time for spraying pesticides against this
pest, while according to the experts the use of pheromone traps in forecasting
is not accurate enough and has been criticized a lot. In this regard, seasonal fluctuations
of grapevine moth population in vineyards of Qazvin and Kurdistan provinces
were studied and based on that, a temperature-based phenology
model was prepared for the pest populations in these two provinces, and in order to prepare
a forecasting model, the method of Growing Degree Hours (GDH) was used. Since the beginning of
1400, the validation and development of the application of the model has been
carried out by the Plant Protection Organization with the cooperation and under the supervision
of the project manager.
