Issuing license for 4004 medicines and herbal and
traditional products

Medicinal plants are considered as one of the important
advantages of Iran's agricultural sector, and Iranian traders can export them,
albeit in the form of processed products, to create a high exchange rate for the
country.

Currently, the highest demand for medicinal plants is from
Pakistan, UAE, Germany, Japan and China. Among these, saffron is at the top of
the demand list and after that, the most export items of Iranian medicinal
plants are cumin, rosemary, licorice, natural gums and essences and roses.

Mohammad Hasan Asareh, Secretary of the Science and
Technology Development Headquarters of Medicinal Plants and Traditional
Medicine, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, announced the issuance of
a license for the production of medicines and herbal products by the Food and
Drug Administration to more than 20% of the total license for the production of
medicines and products in the country, and added that: Currently, a number of
4004 traditional and herbal medicines and products have been licensed by the
Food and Drug Administration.

He also added that: The country's priority for exporting
plants such as saffron, rosemary, licorice, "barijeh and anghozeh"
are the most important export items in this field.

Currently, the highest demand for medicinal plants from Iran
are from Pakistan, UAE, Germany, Japan and China, most of which are customers
of saffron from Iran. Meanwhile, more than 60% of Iran's saffron exports belong
to Spain and the UAE.
