120,000 tons of olive will be produced this year in IRAN
According to the information center of the ministry of
Jihad-Agriculture, the executor of the country's olive production plan said in
a conversation with our reporter that: This year, production of 8 thousand tons
of olive oil is expected to be made in the country.
Engineer Rahmatolah Parichehr has mentioned that in 2018,
about 102,000 tons of olive and 7,000 tons of olive oil were produced in the
country.
He mentioned that the area of the gardens of fertile and
non-fertile olive in the country is about 90,000 hectares and declared: about
56000 hectares of the gardens are fertile. He also added that: in 2019, we plan
to develop more than 2500 hectares of the new gardens in prone and will improve
and upgrade 3700 hectares of the gardens through nutrition, pruning, improve
irrigation methods with the scope of increasing yields.
annual consumption of olive oil in Iran is about 12,000 tons, and in 2018,
3,500 tons of olive oil came into the country, and the remainder was supplied
by domestic production. He also mentioned that: Import of olive oil to Iran is
from countries such as Turkey, Italy, Spain and Greece.
Parichehr has also declared that: Spain has the world's top
position in olive and olive oil production and Iran ranked 10th in the
production of canned olive. He them mentioned that: More than 17 million tons
of olive and 3.3 million tons of olive oil are produced annually in the world.
He moreover added that organizing specialized courses,
technical advises and expert advice to olive growers, and the provision of
subsidized seedlings and the improvement and development of olive groves are
some of the activities of the country's olive production plan, with the scope
of improving the quantity and quality of olive related products.
