100,000 rose stems exported to intl markets from southwest: Official

Yasuj - The Head of the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Provincial Organization of Agriculture announced that 100,000 rose stems produced in the province have been exported to countries along the Persian Gulf during the current year.

According to the Public Relations Office of the provincial Agriculture Organization, Reza Farazi said the southwestern Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province currently has 14.3 hectares of rose greenhouses operating across 33 production units.

He noted that these facilities have produced a total of 16.75 million rose stems so far this year.

Farazi said that, in addition to exports, a substantial share of the province’s rose production is marketed domestically, particularly in major metropolitan centers such as Tehran.

He identified White Avalanche and Red Samurai as the predominant rose varieties cultivated in the province and said the sector has created direct employment for 170 people.

Highlighting the stability of greenhouse-based production, Farazi explained that controlled environmental conditions significantly reduce the impact of adverse natural factors, including drought, extreme temperatures, and strong winds, allowing rose production to remain stable throughout most of the year.
