Khorramabad - The Acting Head of Lorestan Province’s Agricultural Organization highlighted that the Zagros Botanical Garden stands as the only genetic reservoir for plant species native to the Zagros climatic region, marking it as one of Iran’s most important botanical treasures.

 

During his visit to the garden, Namdar Sayyadi emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving biodiversity as a vital component of passive defense strategies. He reiterated that the Zagros Botanical Garden uniquely conserves the genetic diversity of Zagros-region flora and plays a crucial role in national plant conservation efforts.

 

The acting head outlined the garden’s primary research priorities, which include the domestication of genetic resources, the development of sustainable cultivation techniques, and the responsible utilization of rare and endangered plant species.

 

The official also stressed the garden’s key role in community education and raising public awareness about biodiversity conservation.

 

Commending the ongoing efforts of the garden’s staff, the Sayyadi underlined the importance of safeguarding biodiversity, expanding the cultivation of medicinal plants, and harnessing the garden’s scientific potential for education and research.
