Signing of the Agricultural Cooperation Agreement between Iran and Switzerland

According to the information center of the Ministry of
Jihad-Agriculture, the two countries, i.e. Iran and Switzerland, emphasized the
development of cooperation and the exchange of experiences and knowledge in the
field of agricultural research, technology, modern training methods and climate
change issues.
In this ceremony, Deputy Minister and Head of the
Agricultural Research, Training and Promotion Agency of Iran has told, in
regard to the issues of cooperation between the two sides, that: One of the
most important areas of mutual cooperation is in the field of vegetable and
seafood production and seed and related technologies.
Dr. Kazem Khavazi, Deputy Minister and Head of the
Agricultural Research, Training and Promotion Agency of Iran, has mentioned
that cooperation between Iran and Switzerland include the following items,
among others: training and promotion agency of Iran, germplasm exchange, expert
training, preservation of genetic
resources, especially in terms of international law, modern technologies in
plant breeding and seeds, research on new methods of livestock production,
especially livestock breeding, livestock feeding, introduction of new forage
crops, and Using agricultural waste to feed livestock.
Bernard Lehmann, Director of the Federal Office for
Agriculture of Switzerland told that: we are trying to find methods for
Sustainable Use of Soil, and Climate Change Management, and We hope that the
cooperation of the two countries in these areas will be fruitful.
Khavazi has referred to the successful experience of
Switzerland in the field of knowledge transfer and pointed out that: We need to
work with Swiss in the field of knowledge transfer in the form of expert
working groups and see if their methods are adapted to the social conditions
and characteristics of Iran, and if so, we will use their finding and proposed
methods to manage knowledge in the field of agriculture.
