Fars - The head of the Agriculture Office in Beyza County, southern Fars Province, announced that olive production in the county has doubled this year, with total output reaching 9,000 tons compared to last year.

 

Sediqeh Moeidi said the olive harvest in Beyza begins in mid-September with table olive varieties and continues through early February with the harvesting of oil-producing cultivars.

 

She noted that the area under olive cultivation in the county has expanded to 720 hectares, marking an increase of 87 hectares year on year.

 

According to Moeidi, 44 percent of the harvest consists of table olives, while 56 percent is allocated to oil production. She added that by the end of the harvest season, more than 750 tons of olive oil are expected to be produced and supplied to domestic markets, with part of the output exported to Gulf countries and Europe.

 

Moeidi identified Takhm Kabaki, Conservolia, Zard-e Zeytoon, Shiraz, Shangah, Dezfouli, and Fishmi as the main olive varieties cultivated in Beyza County.

 

She further emphasized that the majority of olive harvesting and initial processing is carried out manually, relying on local labor and generating significant seasonal employment opportunities during the harvest period.
