Modern tech, mechanization to revolutionize Iran’s fishery sector: Official

Tehran — The Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) has identified the adoption of modern scientific knowledge and mechanization as the central pillars of its future development plans, according to a senior official.

Rajabali Ghorbanzadeh, Director General for the Office of the President, Public Relations, and International Affairs at the IFO, said that sustainable growth in aquaculture production is unattainable without embracing up-to-date science, innovation, and their systematic application across fish and shrimp farming operations.

He explained that the organization is prioritizing the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, nano-bubble systems, expanded mechanization of aquaculture farms, and the modernization of fishing methods.

Ghorbanzadeh noted that Iran’s total fisheries output has exceeded 1.5 million tons, adding that comprehensive planning is underway to improve productivity and increase output per unit area.

He also announced that more than 400 million juvenile fish and shrimp are released annually into the country’s water bodies as part of nationwide stock restoration programs, implemented in cooperation with fisheries operators and with support from the public sector.
