Minister highlights importance of watershed, aquifer
management
The government attaches great significance to the
implementation of watershed and aquifer management projects across the country,
Iran’s Minister of Agriculture said.
“We have inherited natural resources
from past generations, and should preserve them for future generations,”
Mohammad Ali Nikbakht said on Saturday.
Noting that the country is suffering from prolonged drought
and water scarcity, he said, “We all should work to protect forests, water, and
pastures for future generations through proper watershed and aquifer management
projects.”
The minister also said that the Iranian Minister of
Agriculture has made a great effort in the past two years to deal with the
hazardous impacts of sand and dust storms (SDSs) on the health of people by
adopting various measures.

downward trend, as a result, sources of sand and dust storms have increased
compared to a year before
