Minister expects Iran’s wheat output to stand at 14m tons in 2026
Tehran – Iran's Minister of Agriculture has projected domestic wheat production at 13.5 to 14 million tons for the current crop year.
Speaking on a news program, Gholamreza Nouri described the securing of essential commodities during what he called the "Third Imposed War" as a collective effort across all levels of government, supply chains, and the public.
He added that strategic reserves were barely touched due to sufficient domestic production and supply.
The minister also announced plans to expand agricultural diplomacy with neighboring countries, noting that 99% of agricultural exports remain unrestricted.
“Recent visits to Turkey and Kyrgyzstan included talks with the FAO and participation in an SCO agriculture ministers' meeting, where the war's impact on food security was condemned.”
Contingency plans for war, ceasefire, and peace scenarios have been developed, Nouri added, with final decisions resting with the Supreme Leader and the Supreme National Security Council.
