Minister calls for efficient, sustainable farming practices

Tehran – Iran's Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri, has sounded the alarm about the critical state of the country's agricultural sector, emphasizing the urgent need for a transformative shift towards more efficient and sustainable farming practices.
Speaking at a recent ceremony at the Agricultural Research, Education, and Extension Organization (AREEO), Nouri underscored the importance of a knowledge-driven approach to agriculture. He criticized the past neglect of long-term development in favor of short-term solutions like market regulation.
He stressed the paramount importance of food security for national sovereignty and highlighted the challenges posed by limited resources and climate change.
The minister called for innovative solutions to boost agricultural productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
He further commended the AREEO for its significant contributions to Iran's agriculture and urged increased collaboration between the organization and other stakeholders to address pressing issues such as water scarcity and the need for more efficient resource utilization.
